Match Of The Day: WWF Champion The Iron Sheik vs. Hulk Hogan

World Wrestling Federation, 1984 – It was exactly 33 years ago to the day that this infamous match aired. The World Wrestling Federation was beginning its national expansion, and had recently convinced Hulk Hogan to leave The AWA and return to WWF. The previous month, Sheik had defeated Bob Backlund in a controversial fashion to become the World Champion.

Match Of The Day: NWA World Champion Ric Flair vs. AWA World Champion Rick Martel

All Japan Pro Wrestling, 1985 – AJPW held it’s World Champion Carnival in the month of October. The events featured champions fro around the world competing with an against each other in an All Japan Ring.

One of the final matches in the tour pitted NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair against AWA World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel. I truly was a dream match for its time.

BREAKING NEWS: Kurt Angle to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame!

WWE announced today that former Multi-Time World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Angle is the first officially confirmed name for the Class Of 2017. This marks the return of Angle to the company after a near 11 year absence. He was last seen on WWE programming in the Fall of 2006 where he was heavily featured on the then new ECW Brand. Former UFC World Champion To Wrestle For TNA

Dave Meltzer reports that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett will be wrestling for TNA Impact Wrestling. Barnett made his debut at tonight's tapings, and is expected to feud with Bobby Lashley, another wrestler with a MMA record. Josh Barnett was a student of the late great Billy Robinson, and headlined a Wrestling World show (now called Wrestle Kingdom) for New Japan Pro Wrestling in his debut match.
