What the...??

I know people can argue against anything, but why?   Because it implies Superman is "the standard bearer" or some shite?

Gaming Forum / Best/favorite last gen game?
« on: May 23, 2017, 12:00:55 PM »
We did this for 6th gen (I believe Ninja Gaiden and God of War were favorite picks).

Not a list, just the one game you think was the defining "must own" for last gen.

For me, I'm kind of leaning towards Pac-Man Championship DX.  It captured the "arcade experience at home" perfectly, you can't beat it for sheer fun factor or pick up and playability.

I'm guessing pride.  Rhea hates Supergirl for stealing away and turning her son against her.  So she has to break her, and making her fight her own cousin plays in to that.

Same reason she so readily accepted a fight to the death, even though she had absolutely nothing to gain from it (Even if she was obligated to accept by custom, she already proved she has no sense of honor at all, and probably wouldn't have accepted the fight unless she really wanted to.)

The only thing I can figure on that one, is maybe Hector made her husband disappear and Mike knew it, and that made him think harder about what Nacho needs with the capsules.

Not sure why Mike would care if Nacho lives or dies in a failed coup, though.  Perhaps he figures Hector needs Nacho to keep him in check, and even more people would suffer or vanish under a Nacho-less reign?

Anyways, have to give them credit for the opening slugfest, and the result.  It was a bold move.

The message is clear:  We're all in investing in OUR character.  We don't care who's more popular.

This kind of outcome never even happened in her personal comic book stories (Heck, even Wonder Woman was protected from jobbing to her like she's The Game. :) )

Silver Kryptonite.  Last I heard about that was in an old Jimmy Olson comic, and it was a fake rock painted silver (Forget why, but probably another scheme to get Supes to reveal his identity.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the air "already" have trace amounts of lead in it?

Theme was pretty much Jimmy getting rolled by everybody.

What was the significance of the insurance bytch finding out about Chuck's breakdown?  Are they clients, or is Jimmy simply trying to raise his insurance rates (Wouldn't that be some sort of company plan?)

I'm sorry for your loss.

Both of my grandmother's passed on, also with dementia.  I'd be lying if I said both affected me equally.

But both grandfather's are holding in there, with one living on his own and one in the hospital (Took a fall, didn't break anything but his face looked like it had third degree burns on it.  Also, an idiot nurse thought it would be a good idea to leave a 94 year old man who can't even set a cover himself with a boiling hot liquid.  You can guess what happened next (Hint: He was only wearing a robe.  Guess the absolute worst thing that can happen to a man in this scenerio..)

Just saw it.

At this point, Marvel can pretty much make their advertising paper signs on telephone poles saying the release date of their next movie, and people would flock in droves.

Or maybe just the words "Hey, there's always Bay or Snyder." *trollface*

Anyways, real reason I resurrected this:

http://ew.com/article/2016/10/19/westworld-game-thrones-crossover/

Westeros as a park in Westworld.

If they're not talking "Captain Marvel instead of Superman" differences, and mean the actual actor's and sets, this sounds like a continuity argument waiting to happen..  Twitter would eat itself alive arguing whether Game of Thrones is "really real" or just a theme park.

Anyone else watch this and not condemn the rapists and pillagers and murderers like the show obviously wants you to?

I mean, is this any different then gamers going around Skyrim and doing what they do?

..maybe a bad example because people do kind of shame a guy who complains "I killed everyone in the game, and now it's a ghost town!"  But it's just a "video game", except more of a larp with toys.

I figure Jon becomes husband to mother of dragons.  Makes for a nice parting shot with Tyrian and Jon finishing their conversation from the start of the series.

And speaking of Tyrian, talk about unintended consequences.  Killing Tywin was the worst possible thing for King's Landing.

Should make conquoring it a hell of a lot easier, though.

Caught up.

So what do you say?   Queen bitch, mother of dragons, or bastard snowman?

Sersi's dominance came out of left field and she's failed at every opportuity, so I can't see her winning the Game of Thrones.

I figured it Flash got in, Savitar would get in.

Yeah, but Barry had Snart.  Savitar would need evil Legends mirrorverse Snart or something..

(Really though, they should be exploiting the "shared memory" way more then they have been.

Like, hide Iris and don't tell Barry where she is, but give them all these false leads that he THINKS are the real ones (He can't know he's being lied to, so Savitar doesn't know).

Then Savitar can go nuts breaking into an Argus or meta prison, only for the door to slam on the other side and he ending up trapped..

Meanehile, Iris was shrunken down with Atom tech and safely in Cisco's eyeglasses..)

I know I'm kind of the "cheap guy", but let me ask you something:

Have you ever seen anyone recommend something that wasn't kind of expensive?  Especially if an alternative existed?

Like, one car is 20,000, another is comparable at 10,000 but not as feature rich, so of course everyone recommends the expensive model.

It's like that with everything.  Give me someone who says "here's the best bang for your buck.  Not garbage, not the best, just worth the money without breaking the bank."

2 episodes away from finishing season 6.

I don't get the faceless guy.  Was he ever really expecting Arya to become "no one"?

I mean, he knew why she wanted to train with him.  Revenge.  She had no reason at all to drop her entire identity.

And at the end, when her pupil fails and Arya holds her at sword point, and declares her individualism, he smiles and lets her walk away.

Pretty much, he's a big Deus Ex Mechanica.  His moral code changes as the plot demands, and seems to exist only to level up Arya.

Sales and promotions usually sell out like it's black friday every day now.

Especially for anything online.  There must be hordes of "sniper" bots doing keyword sweeps, because by the time you hear about a good bargain, it's GONE.

Mon-El's father was named Lar-Gand?

Interesting, Lar-Gand was the alias Mon-El was using back in the 1990's comic book series L.E.G.I.O.N. 89/90/whenever.  (Not to be confused with the Legion of Superheroes.  It was a group of space aliens in the "present" time period (As opposed to the future, where Mon-El and the LOS live as a teenage group of heroes)

Not sure why he was called that, exactly.  I also believe in the Legion of Superhero time from the future, he started going by Valor instead of Mon-El (It's a long story, but the 1990's had a lot of experimentation and Watchmen influence.  One of these projects was an adult Legion existing in a post Superboy world, with a bunch of new characters and a grittier "contemporary" theme..)

I know it's all about suspension of disbelief and all, but..

You know a woman like that probably wouldn't really be able to beat down a decent sized man, right?  Not like that, anyways.  With punch's to the face making him recoil/stagger and such..

But tv shows never get that kind of thing right anyways (Jean Claude Van Damme made a career out of schlock..)

I like to imagine Snart was yucking it up with the Legends/Mick something like this:

"So, where did you go?"

"Barry needed me to break into Argus, the most secure facillity oj Earth, and steal some tech to save Iris from an evil speedster.  The facility dampens his speed."

Everyone at once:  "Why not just put Iris into the speed dampened fortress?"

Mick:  "Because Barry's an idiot".

unless it was an express lane they didn't really do anything wrong

dumb maybe, but not wrong

Well, it was one of those automated lines.

I think they're all limited to 15 items or so.  No one really follows that.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I have it in for the employee's.  Their job's their job and all.

I just don't see the point in the lie.  Take your pick, they either believe we're stupid enough to fall for it, or we're cynical enough to put them through that because we can.

Anyways, speaking of checkouts, what would you do:

You want to buy one item.  The guy ahead of you is checking out about three.  Suddenly, he calls his wife over who has a carriage filled to the brim with three weeks worth of groceries.

Me, I just shook my head and decided not to buy the item.  Other people complained, but they didn't understand/pretended not to understand.

Is it cynical to think they understood EXACTLY what they were doing?
