Been playing the Megaman X collection, and got a bit frustrated at the spider boss in the Sigma levels, so decided to switch out and try Zero in X4 (From the proper Playstation disc on a PS2, not the collection.  Learned that the texture smoothing function causes glitch's on an hdtv..)

Zero's pretty fun.  Frustrating against some bosses, especially Cyber Peacock, but it's sort of like putting Strider in a Megaman game.

Getting caught between work and family.

Especially hard at places that demand all your free time notices is given in advance at the start of the year (Those of you with kids know how you're lucky to get even a weeks notice on certain things..)

I'm sorry to hear that, BobbyR.

For me, that's the worst case scenerio..  Not dying, but being alive with complete loss of agency.  At that point, you're at the mercy of a medical establishment and law system that won't allow you the dignity of a favorite pet dog well past its prime (As my grandfather puts it.)

how is your sister?

Tara's making her live in boyfriend miserable.  :)

When it happened about five years ago, we were very lucky to get the top surgeon.  She decided to go with a clamp through an incision in the head, instead of an alternative wire thing they stick through an artery/vein in the arm.

Basically, the wire leaves no head scar for the prima donna's.  But it's not a sure thing, and has never really been tested into old age.  So my sister went with the sensible decision, and puts on some false hair clips to cover the scar.

I won't lie, her condition colors my opinion about health care a bit, as almost no one wanted to touch her after she recovered (She made the mistake of being covered under a joint plan with her last boyfriend, and then they broke up.  Right after she recovered.)

Thanks for asking.  :)

It's fine, I was mostly venting anyways.  Thanks for listening and replying though.  :)

And he's already out of the hospital. One blocked artery, another in bad shape.  Nothing he could have done, it's just genetics, as his father/my grandfather had a triple bypass/open heart.  Wasn't expected to live past 50, and here he is at nearly 95 (While all the other people he knew in his generation who had a similar condition have passed on..)

Guess it's something to look forward to.  That and kidney stones..  :)

Anyways, this could have been a lot worse, so I'm happy (Of course, the doctors/nurses initially told him he wasn't having a heart attack.   Said the same thing to my sister when she suffered an anurysm, and told her it was just a headache.  Seriously,  having it happen twice to two family members is pretty scary stuff, and really makes you realize you've gotta stick to your guns against these guys who think they know your body reactions better then you do..)

When did everything get expensive on Amazon?

I was looking to buy Book of the New Sun, thought the offering were a bit steep, and on impulse decided to look up Courtship of Princess Leia and other old books.  Every single one is close to 10 dollars, and that's not including shipping.

For old books!  I used to buy boxes of 50 books for 10 dollars or less (Ebay, not Amazon,  but they're essentially the same resellers...)

The state just put my father in the hospital.

He's been fighting them for four months about care for his 94 year old father (My grandfather), after he suffered a fall and had to stay in another hospital.  Unfortunately, he wasn't at the VA, which would have covered everything, so we're on the hook for the bill.

A social worker claimed if we keep him there for a month and deplete all his assets, the state will step in and cover it, and maybe we can get him at home care.

That was four months ago.  Since then, the case workers been dragging her feet.  Been hard to even contact, asked us about two vehicles he never even owned and couldn't be bothered to check on (We got the proof), and told us outright she's just been sitting on the case.  Her boss wasn't any better, he told us flat out the state isn't paying for at home care, and will take his entire social security check.  When asked how he's supposed to live without money, the guy said "The state doesn't care!".  I kid you not.

So that's where we're at, and then today he has a heart attack.

Naturally, I want to do something, but I'm just not sure what there is TO do..  The workers don't give a crap, and if I contacted our representative, what am I supposed to tell him?  Not like he's gonna make them at least do their jobs, instead of sit on it forever and he impossible to contact..  (May as well ask him to hurry up the dmv.)

But I'm open to suggestions anyways..  Anything except for "Get a lawyer", which unfortunately isn't an option at the moment (Can't afford one..)

...aaaand, apparently some of the doner's have p.h.d.'s.

Makes sense.  Career students who aren't clever enough to be rich but pull in good disposable income.  Yeah, I could definately see those types funding the stupidest things ever.

If there's something I learned here, it'e that there really is a sucker born every minute.

I seriously want to know who these people are, and what they do to get so much disposable income yet have so little sense they blow it on every fool thing.

Trust fund babies?  Drug dealers and pimps?

Kids with parents unknowingly racking up thousands a month in iap?

Sonic 3 and Knuckles, as Knuckles.

Glad I was a Nintendo kid, now I get to play all the games from the competiton dirt cheap on any number of a billion sources.  Obviously, that would not be the case if I was an edgy "What Nintendon't" brat. :)

Oh, you also might want to check out JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Particularly Diamond is Unbreakable, for one single amazing villain.  In wrestling terms, he's got one hell of a gimmick..  (I like him so much I'd even say skip right to it, but you'll probably be a little bit lost on concepts and characters.  Although you can always wiki those..)

That, no commercials, and some of the shows don't allow simulcasts so non subscribers are a week behind (Only happened to me with My Hero Academia and Mob Psycho 100 (By One Punch Man's author, which is also on there), both which I highly recommend.

Red woman, Ned's executioner (Like he has a choice who he executes, poor guy was just doing his job.), Berric and Thoros, and The Mountain.

Bet she takes Mountain as The Hounds fighting him.

One neat perk of a console is all the anime and shows on that app, right to your tv.  No need to pirate stream ever with it.

Even has Samurai Pizza Cats, the dub.

Who was it that saved Jamie at the last? Was it Bronn or Dickon or someone else?

Bet it was Bronn.

How much longer until Dany learns Jon is a relative, and how would that affect her "destined to rule them all" mindset?

Because Jon would have just as much of a claim to the throne.

Pick your despot.

Team Dany isn't gonna last long if Cersi does the smart thing and has the entire infrastructure manufacter anti-dragon guns by the thousands and firewater bombs day and night.

Killed a dragon.  :)  (Drake, technically, but looked like one of Dany's children.)

Hear tell the drake is tougher then the end boss.

Jon should get what he needs from Dany, and then retire away from wherever Dany is.

Because she's one of those well meaning do-gooders who fucks EVERYTHING up.

In a way, she's worse then all the tyrants, because at least when people suffer, it's as collateral damage as they try and screw their rivals over.  But with Dany, she'll just as likely kill or ruin your way of life as help you (Watch out for that dragon friendly fire..)

Spiders.

Unless they're dangling in front of the tv or something.  Otherwise, they're natures pest control.

Forget everything I said, this game throws tactics back in your face depending on enemy.

Just exploring around, you'll find SO MUCH cool stuff.

Like, I was wandering around and found a goblin camp with two helmed giant slaves.  Wiped it out, then moved to an area a few feet over, and a damned giant stone golem appears out of nowhere.  And then I found a sword in a stone right there, and pulled out a flaming sword.

Skyrim doesn't even compare to this game.  No wonder they're remastering it, it's like every fantasy gamers wet dream.  Even boring escort missions have you running into drakes and such (Tip:  The game tells you to run for a reason.  Damage calculations are based on your combined offense to their defense, e.g. Drake has 400 defense, you have 399 attack, you will NOT do any damage.  At all.)

Kermit before muppets was a mob enforcer, apparently.  Shaking people down who wouldn't buy their coffee.

I think it's more the fact he named it "widowmaker".

As in, maker of widows.. Not exactly aiming for benevolent hero king of justice with name like that.

My current obsession with Dragon's Dogma reminded me of something:

Most rpg fans miss the point of playing an rpg.  It's all about endgame builds for those types, so they'll promote these strategies that makes playing a major chore/drag for 99% of the experience.

As if levels 1-199 or whatever are just a means to an end, instead of the meat and potatoes of actually enjoying the game (On that note, if you ever game with such people they literally run from point to point like it's their job.  Never stops to enjoy the scenery, or relish a mob encounter just because.  Never picks a "Because it's fun" class without a good end point either.  Can't imagine how someone enjoys playing that way..)
