General Discussion / Re: Game of Thrones (Season 7)

Kit Harrington is great, but it's almost comical how little he's able to convey this supposed infatuation with Dany. Thank The Gods we have Tyrion and Ser Davos to "notice" this for our benefit, because Jon Snow never doesn't look absolutely miserable.

Gendry is awesome. The touring party does their Lewis and Clark routine north of the wall for what seems like weeks, and Gendry's able to make it back to Eastwatch in 25 minutes flat.

Why is Arya suddenly being such a twit?

With addition of his latest draft pick (Zombie Ice Dragon), the Night King is now -350 to finish on the Iron Throne.

Givling brings down another loan - their first mortgage debt payoff - this one took all of 17 days. A $25,000 payoff to Angie Coufal Hoard of Waco, Texas.

Now on to the next - a $39,000 student loan for a woman in Fontana, CA. Thanks to the help of Givling's first corporate sponsorship (http://www.circle.com), this one is already 37% funded. Seems very likely to fall by the end of the month. With the coming media coverage, September could see one debt payoff each week. Ultimately, the goal is multiple loans per day.

In Breaking Bad, I was always bummed that we never got a scene with both Jesse and Walter Jr. Maybe the TV gods make it up to me with GoT - before this wraps, I want to see a reunion between Arya and Syrio Forel. I know Arya thinks he's dead, but I don't believe we saw him die back in Season 1, so TV rules of character demise apply, I believe.

I think the legitimacy of Jon's claim to the throne rests almost entirely on whether his parents Rhaegar and Lyanna were married. He's either the rightful heir to the throne, or he's ten times the bastard we thought he was.

Good old dimwitted Gilly - it appears we have our answer. If Lyanna Stark was the woman Rhaegar married in the clandestine ceremony in Dorne, then that would make Jon Snow the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

Good lord! And we can't get one to support the podcasts here lol

You could - if you have a willingness to tell people a half-amusing, self-evident lie.

The plain truth of the matter is that if you needed money for a life-saving operation, among the best advice you could get would be to start a online crowdfunding campaign where you ask for donations on the basis a truly ludicrous premise that no sane person would take at face value. From my own informal survey, maybe 1% (probably less) of serious crowdfunding campaigns succeed.

EDIT: And a potential test presents itself. There's a GoFundMe that just started four hours ago to raise money for the victims of the Charlottesville attack. It's up to almost $12,000 already (asking for the $50k). I'm curious to see if it beats Potato Salad Guy. https://www.gofundme.com/united-cville-victim-relief

Wasn't there a gimmick a few years back where somebody got many thousands of dollars just to make potato salad?

This was....okay, I guess. As a movie, it held together a lot better than PIII, but wasn't as interesting as PII.

Here's what's always bugged me about Hitchcock's film. For the first 40+ minutes, you're basically watching a movie about a woman who embezzles her employer's company's money, so that she can run off and marry her boyfriend. Janet Leigh doesn't get knifed to death in the shower until like 45 minutes in. People call this film a masterpiece, forgetting that the first nearly-half-of-it sucks out loud. There's no way this script gets made if it's written today. Any script coverage intern would see the problem with it - it's trying to be two movies. Pick a lane.

Irritated response is probably driving donations.

Bet it was Bronn.

How much longer until Dany learns Jon is a relative, and how would that affect her "destined to rule them all" mindset?

Because Jon would have just as much of a claim to the throne.

I think the legitimacy of Jon's claim to the throne rests almost entirely on whether his parents Rhaegar and Lyanna were married. He's either the rightful heir to the throne, or he's ten times the bastard we thought he was.

Quite apart from that, Jon Snow is probably the most miserable looking King of Anything that Westeros has ever seen. You tell him he's in line for the Iron Throne, and he'll be like 'Fuck That Noise.'

And if I remember my GOT canon correctly, the Targaryen Dynasty was forged through generations of incest in the first place, so it wouldn't be completely unheard of if Jon and Dany became kissing cousins.

She's the same as Cersei.

If Jon Snow can't win, I hope the Night King destroys all of them.

How is she the same as Cersei? Dany didn't want to storm King's Landing with her dragons and potentially kill scores of innocents. Instead, he ambushes the Lannister Army in an open field. This doesn't ring of moral hypocrisy to me.

I have a tax question - let's say in light of federal tax law, unless somebody is similarly versed in California state tax law, and can speak to that.

If a C-Corp gives a money gift to an individual, is that considered taxable income, or taxable after a certain amount, or tax free? I've heard it said that, if the money is gifted by the Board of Directors of a C-Corp, then it's a tax free gift.

And another loan came down this past Monday - $33,407 payable to Jordan Shelton of Indianapolis.

https://www.facebook.com/Givling/videos/1920796298134131/

So that's one in February, one on June 12th (about 7 weeks ago), and now this one. The next one is projected to fall sometime in the next few weeks, and TWO are projected to come down in September. There's been lots of cross-country media attention of the Jordan loan payoff, and there's been thousands of new members signing up just today. The more people who sign up and play, the faster the loans gets paid off.

Things turned a corner today.

Lots of people name their swords.

Here we celebrate advancements in our society - those which eliminate the irritants of the past.

I'm happy that most vending machines no longer spit out paper bills that aren't in pristine shape.

Just watched it. Actually quite an underrated sequel, IMO. Anthony Perkins killed it (har har).

Going to try out parts III and IV and see if they hold up.

You mean like she did in The Hunger Games?

That was maybe a quarter of her head, and in any case, yes.
