Really enjoyed the upbeat season premiere, for a change.

Negan is the best. I'd vote that man for POTUS.  He's a go-getter who gets stuff done.

I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan in general anyhow.  I know a guy who ran into him and Norman Reedus in town while they were filming.  He approached the two of them (and I thought this was pretty clever) said, "Hey, I heard you two wanted your picture with me."  JDM and Norman figured out what the joke was there and JDM was like, "Hell yeah I do, man."  Said they both came off as great guys.

JDM's portrayal of Negan has been amazing. He makes you want to hate him inside of 20 seconds from the first time you see him. The character is evil brilliant too. Such a great character.

He's Negan in the flesh for sure.

Minus the trademarked potty mouth. Limitations  of network tv.

But otherwise, spot on performance.

That premiere was soooooooooooooooo drawn out. The Walking Dead has gotten really boring the past few seasons, I hope this one picks up the pace and we aren't subjected to too many episodes dedicated to introducing new characters. There are some pretty great scenes from the comics that they'll be able to do this season if they don't fudge it up.

Here's my issue with Rick.  I have a hard time believing that in a post-apocalyptic society that Rick is a believable character.  The whole "icy cold killer" and "emotional basket case" thing he swings back and forth from falls flat with me.

I understand where you're coming from, and to a point I agree with you.  However, I think what we see with Rick is that he adapts to each situation.  His motivations are always the same; protect the group by doing whatever it takes to survive.  Sometimes that means being a violent bully, other times it means projecting weakness and deference to someone else's authority.

His actions may be inconsistent, but his goals don't seem to change.

Pretty much.

Rick's basically a sociopath, like Carol.  A benevolent "Governor".

Which isn't to say FB is wrong.  Rick's totally unrealistic, if only because nobody acts like he does without being a danger to himself and everyone around him..

absolutely not.

I kind of like Carol's interaction with the king over Michonne's from the comic.  Carol and Ezekiel couldn't be more opposites in how they approach life.

Not really related to this season, but I find it funny in hindsight.

Couple of years ago Torgo got on a couple of us on here for having the audacity to criticize any aspect of this show, despite us being fans and wanting the show to be better. One time he claimed criticizing this show is direct disrespect to George Romero and spitting on his grave.

Well he's alive and thinks Walking Dead has killed the genre  :biggrin_mini2:

"Collapsible Hearts Club" is the name of the group that sings that song.

True, I love his portrayal of Negan (I'm not familiar with the source material so I don't know/care how it lines up with that).  I want Carl and Spencer dead though.

He and George Lucas should hang out.

I doubt anyone watches their movies for the message. ;)

Maybe it's because I had one eye on Elimination Chamber, but I didn't really care much about this last night.

The junk people were never in the comic.

I don't like them.  They're so lazy and helpless that they just sit around for someone to come along and get them what they need?

The apocolypse hasn't been that long ago either, why is everyone in that group talking like Mad Max characters?  (I had a similar problem with
Spoiler  :
the walker skin wearing Whisperer's
from the comic.)

I assumed the junkyard people were in comics, and the writers were simply following after that.

If they aren't in the comics, this makes last night's episode even worse. One thing this show didn't need was another gang of miscreants getting camera time. And I could barely follow what they were about - I need to read a recap.

Well, The Kingdom immediately accepted Rick's proposal in comic, so I'd guess the junkyard people are a stopgap measure to mitigate that difference and give him access to fighters.

How many more Darwin Awards can Rick get nominated for, before he finally wins one?
