Game of Thrones (Season 7)
« on: April 23, 2017, 10:59:00 AM »
May as well start the new season talk.

Now that I have a legal channel, I'm trying to binge from start to current.  Currently up to ep 4, so spoiler tags please.

Anyways, in every media like this, nobles are always prissy while kings are crude and blunt.  Is that basically how it was...?  I mean, kings promoted nobles, right?  Shouldn't they "all" be crude?

Two seasons in.  One thing I love and am kind of critical of:

Tyrion.  Love the character, but think he gets away with way more shit then he should.  Joffery threatened his own mother with execution, and we're supposed to believe he doesn't call for his head at the first glare of contempt, let alone laying hands on him?

Season 3, ep 5.  Over halfway there.

I really wish someone would shoot Tywin Lannister in the chest with an arrow.

The Red Wedding:  Wow.

Tywin is more evil mastermind then Palpatine could ever dream of being.  If Tywin Lannister was in Star Wars, the Rebels never would have won the war.

Not really sure who to root for.  I was backing Dany for awhile, but she's kind of slowly turning into a capracious, insane tyrant.  No rule of law, just acts on a whim.

Best ending might be the Walkers and dragons teaming up and clearing out everything.

So, near the end of season 5.

It says a lot when Dr. Doom is a way better ruler then pretty much anyone on the show.

Tyrion kills his father:  "Off with his head!"

Ramsey kills his father:  "He's the new lord now."

It's not like the kid adopted two weeks ago would be under suspicion or anything   Or that Lord Bolton would have loyalists everywhere that would burn the kingdom to the ground rather then follow a usurper..

2 episodes away from finishing season 6.

I don't get the faceless guy.  Was he ever really expecting Arya to become "no one"?

I mean, he knew why she wanted to train with him.  Revenge.  She had no reason at all to drop her entire identity.

And at the end, when her pupil fails and Arya holds her at sword point, and declares her individualism, he smiles and lets her walk away.

Pretty much, he's a big Deus Ex Mechanica.  His moral code changes as the plot demands, and seems to exist only to level up Arya.

Caught up.

So what do you say?   Queen bitch, mother of dragons, or bastard snowman?

Sersi's dominance came out of left field and she's failed at every opportuity, so I can't see her winning the Game of Thrones.

If anyone wins, I'm guessing it's Jon Snow.

I figure Jon becomes husband to mother of dragons.  Makes for a nice parting shot with Tyrian and Jon finishing their conversation from the start of the series.

And speaking of Tyrian, talk about unintended consequences.  Killing Tywin was the worst possible thing for King's Landing.

Should make conquoring it a hell of a lot easier, though.
