Wonder Woman (2017)
« on: June 02, 2017, 11:39:15 AM »

Saw it last night. Great movie. Completely different feeling watching this than BvS and Suicide Squad.

I never thought much about Gal Gadot, but she is fantastic in this. So charming, likable, but convincing. Even the cheesy lines she had I believed her. She is Wonder Woman the same way RDJ is Tony Stark.

I really enjoyed the origin stuff on Themiscara with the amazons. Great casting. Those women look legit tough. Robin Wright wow. Who knew.

The true villain in this is war and Diana is just beyond frustrated man or the amazons won't do whatever it takes to fight or stop it. A lot of her call to action is just inspiring. Her fighting in that outfit in trench warfare totally works. It's a great costume.

Chris Pine deserves a lot of credit. He bounces off her and makes the film enjoyable. The two are great together. You can ignore the super hero stuff and those two have a good movie on their own.

I guess the actual villain is weak and generic. It's the same type of villain in almost every superhero movie now, especially mcu so it's nothing new. The common thing is more development on the hero at the cost of the villain.

Still a great film. D.C. finally offers something unique they can be proud of without looking like they're trying to catch up with Marvel. I don't know if this movie is okay for little girls, but it's great for women. It makes you want to stand up and fight.

Might have been one of the names tossed around.

Afaik he's doing Batgirl right now (Also heard he wants to do Serenity 2, but I'll believe that when I see it..)

I didn't really know (Just thought it made sense, given his reputation), but you weren't wrong hearing him in connection with the film.

I lasted 30 seconds before I shut his annoying ass off

I don't think Marvel needs to worry because DC finally managed to make one allegedly good movie

Short explanation on Whedon: He pitched a Wonder Woman idea a few years ago, WB said no. Shortly after that he got hired to direct Avengers.

Back to the movie, I thought it was great all around, and easily the best DC movie since the Dark Knight films. Literally my only complaint is they went a bit to far with the "slow motion action" shots that I'm already sick of. But that's just me.

Slow motion was definitely Zach Snyder's input on the film, especially the final battle. Justice League will undo all of this.

I'm planning on seeing it, but I'm going to wait until the movie crowds die down.

 In fact, you could say....

 (puts on sunglasses)

 ...that I'm waiting for Gadot.

Think I'll be waiting on this.

The local theater has the worst timeslots.  1 p.m. or 4?  Why not 2 or 3?

You know, so you could do some yardwork AND have evening plans?

Saw it.

By far, this is the best Superman movie in years.  :)

A hero with a noble heart from another world acts as an inspiration to man and wants to save people, no matter what.

I love my Marvel movies, but not too many of them are "super-hero" shows..  Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Ant Man, Iron Man are great character dramas, yeah.  Just not in a noble, idealistic, larger then life way, like Man of Steel SHOULD have been.

But imo, Wonder Woman nailed that.  As far as I'm concerned, this is the spiritual successor to Christopher Reeve's Superman.
